Love this quote! "Expect that your reproductive system will change. Start now, with one small action, remove the word normal from your vocabulary. Notice new patterns."

I will say that there are two camps with regard to perimeno. You seem to be in the camp that associates it with loss of estrogen around age 50. I’m in the camp that defines it as loss of progesterone around age 40. What you refer to is my definition of “the menopause transition”, which is very different in almost every way. Tricky business!!! Dr. Sara Gottfried is my main teacher.

Hi Kathleen. There's a third camp and one that is much less known, the one that recognizes it before the allopathic system can diagnose the loss of estrogen or the loss of progesterone. This is what Ayurveda does and the reason many women get gaslit by doctors, because they don't have the diagnostics yet. I'll be writing about our system of health to dis-ease states soon.

Ugh. If only I had KNOWN that perimeno was coming. That wd have been preparation enough, but ten years ago there were maybe three books and no cultural awareness! Thanks for adding to the awareness raising. It means so much.

Yes its a sad state of affairs. And still there isn't enough awareness. Appreciate your comments. 🙏🏽

Thanks for writing this, it’s great to read about holistic therapies for perimenopause. As an autistic and ADHD woman, my perimenopause is extreme, to put it mildly. The hormonal fluctuations require high doses of HRT/MHT and a lot of self-reflection on my fluctuating mental health, mood and suicidality risk.

Currently, I’m dealing with flares of old eating disorders which are difficult alongside being a parent carer.

I strive for an overall balance of lifestyle strategies to give myself the best chance of surviving the menopause transition, which increases suicidality threefold in autistic midlifers compared to non-autistics.

Knowing there is always something else I can try and empower myself with strategically is essential 🙏

Thanks for reading. I am not surprised that you are dealing with some form of digestive / eating disorder. Many people on the spectrum (is that still a term?) do. Ayurveda has been around for thousands of years, my goal is to help women empower themselves with the it's wisdom and practicality.

Oh yes, I have digestive issues that are undiagnosed and problematic. The disordered eating relates more to OCD in my case, and is exacerbated by the menopause transition.

Yes, “on the spectrum” is still in use! It’s “Aspergers” that is no longer used. We now come under the umbrella term of “autistic”.

Empowerment is key, and I appreciate you sharing your practical wisdom 💕

If I may... have you considered that perhaps OCD is due to digestive issues which led to the disordered eating?

You may, and I think it’s autistic in nature due to constantly analysing stats and striving to create data from my life experiences. But I’m sure it’s all interlinked. Unfortunately I never focus on it enough to eliminate anything that may be an intolerance, so I just keep plodding on 🙈
